Ensign-isms

An ensignism is a story about Taylor, Alisa, Cassidy, Mckay, and Kelsey Ensign. These stories may be elaborate or mundane, but with the combined personalities of our little family, they are sure to be entertaining.

Butterfly

Taylor's mom loves butterflies, monarch butterflies the most. Every year she will collect Milk Weed and find the eggs on the leaves. The family, and many local school classes, enjoys watching the eggs hatch to caterpillars, the caterpillars grow large and fat, turn into a chrysalis, then become beautiful butterflies. Often I watch Cassidy play and see her share many of the same interests as her Grandma Lisa. She loves to make things, sewing, plants, flowers, animals, and butterflies. One Sunday she found a butterfly. It must have been injured, and not able to fly, or else Cassidy had the magic touch to be able to hold it.

The end of a great school year

June is coming to an end fast! This has been a very busy, fun filled month for our little family. Cassidy graduated from kindergarten and Mckay from Joy School. Since then we have been busy with my family enjoying the last few weeks we will have all together before my parents leave for their mission. My prediction...my kids are going to be bored in July.

Cassidy's school held a dance festival. Cassidy was so excited. She did a great job performing. It made her day that when she was done, she got to get checked out of school.

Kindergarten graduation was on June 2nd. Cassidy felt this was a very special day. She invited the whole family down for her ceremony then to our house for special sugar cookies and watermelon. During the ceremony a video was played of each child saying what they are excited for about first grade. Most of the kids said "to meet my new teacher" or "two recesses." Cassidy, my original and creative child, said "To go to school all day long!" I am excited for her to go to school all day, but I am already sad that she will not be around the house to entertain us all. She is a happy kid that is always full of excitement. We will miss her when she is gone all day long!

The start of the school year Mckay and I started an adventure together. I, and a few other moms in the neighborhood, started a pre-school class for our kids. We each taught twice every 5 weeks. The year was fun and the kids grew to be good friends. Mckay loves to have his friends come and play, and he is even comfortable going to play at their house now too. I am grateful that we were able to be a part of this school group. I am proud of Mckay for the things he learned and the friends he made. I was surprised to learn that he likes to be the class clown, tell jokes and make every one laugh. He has grown up this year!

We had our graduation party at a park. The kids had fun running and playing make believe. We forced them to stop playing to take a picture. It's just too bad that the graduation caps that I made were way too small to stay on their heads.
