Ensign-isms

An ensignism is a story about Taylor, Alisa, Cassidy, Mckay, and Kelsey Ensign. These stories may be elaborate or mundane, but with the combined personalities of our little family, they are sure to be entertaining.

Kelsey Signing

Several Months ago we set a Family Goal to help Kelsey learn 20 signs before she turned One. Kelsey is now 11 Months old so we decided to write down all of the signs that she knows.

We placed the signs into several categories such as: Frequent Use, Mimics Sign, etc. We were able to count 35 signs that she knows. We have been trying to video her doing these signs, however, she has the ability to recognize when the camera is on, and becomes enamored with the camera and doesn't want to sign anymore.

Tonight she was enjoying her ice cream, and with that as a distraction and motivation, we were able to get her on camera doing several signs.

She is learning signs so quickly and seems to be picking up 2 or 3 signs a week. It is always so fun when she signs something new.

Side note: My favorite part of this video is when Barry Manilow suddenly begins playing in the background on the ihome.

Kelsey's First Oreo Cookie

Soccer Camp

Throughout the month of June, Cassidy and Mckay participated in a Soccer Camp.

Although Cassidy was the only girl, she was also the fastest of the group.
Mckay has been registered, and is looking forward to playing in a league this fall.

Scottish Festival & Highland Games

Every year we attend the Utah Scottish Festival & Highland Games to watch my younger brother as he competes with the Salt Lake Scots Bagpipe Band. Cassidy and Mckay enjoy watching all the bands, as well as the other competition events that take place.

Mckay thought he was so funny in Kelsey's carseat!

The Salt Lake Scots took first place in both events.
Cassidy decided she was brave enough to don armor and face a knight in hand-to-hand combat.

She was victorious!
