Ensign-isms

An ensignism is a story about Taylor, Alisa, Cassidy, Mckay, and Kelsey Ensign. These stories may be elaborate or mundane, but with the combined personalities of our little family, they are sure to be entertaining.

Mckay vs. Table. Table 1 - Mckay 9...stitches

Mckay vs. Table = Table Wins again! I know what you are thinking, isn't that the same eyebrow that he needed stitches in over a year ago? Yes, yes it is. Something to be said for accuracy AND consistency.

Mckay was not too excited at the thought of having to go get stitches.
Even for a three-year old, he certainly had some interesting questions about the "goings-on" in an emergency room late at night.
Why do they have those clothes on?
How come they have to have masks on?
Why that person crying?
Why that thing beeping?
Knowing the response the doctors would receive, we opted to have Mckay sedated for "sewing time."
Mckay's Aunt Jill happens to have a Father who works in the American Fork ER. Thanks Dr. Greenwood for stitching up my boy!
Mom explaining to Mckay that he was asleep while they gave him stitches.
9 stitches later and looking good. This makes for a running total of 14 stitches in the same eyebrow over a short 3 year period.

Extended Ensign Family Christmas Pictures!

Strange lighting...i know. Sorry. Every year my parents have a Family Christmas Card Picture taken. As the years go on the size of our family continues to grow, and so does the chaos associated with family picture day!

Thanksgiving 2009

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It's a time to reflect on the blessings each of us have received. It is a time to spend quality time with family, and this year, a time to watch the Utah Jazz beat the Chicago Bulls on National Television.

P.J. Swap anyone?

Let's trade pajamas!!!

"MSD" Mother-Son-Date

While Dad and Cassidy were off watching Cinderella ice skate, Mom and Mckay had a fun date of their own. Mom took Mckay to Build-a-Bear where Mckay chose the DAD and BOY dogs; aptly named Big Scruffy and Little Scruffy.
A cute boy who really has a fun time when he gets some one-on-one time with his Mom. Thanks to Alisa for not only being a fun date for me, but also for being fun on the occasional date with Mckay.

"DDD" Daddy-Daughter-Date

Yep, it's that time again....Time for a "DDD" Daddy-Daughter-Date! And what better way to enjoy this one-on-one time, then some good ol' fashion ice skating. Princess on Ice that is.
Quite the Princess! It really is a special time to watch the excitement on her face with each new princess arriving on the ice. She sang along with the various songs, and cheered when evil villans were defeated.

9 November - Happy Birthday Mckay

Happy 3rd Birthday to Mckay!
Mckay decided to throw a last minute change into his birthday cake desires, which resulted in a stop at the store, and a "new" birthday cake selection. He was very excited to watch them write his name in icing on the cake. For his Birthday dinner, Mckay chose Training Table. Grandma and Grandpa Weaver were kind to join us.Mckay listening on the cell phone as Grandma Lisa, "Papa" (Grandpa) Eric, Camille, and Hunter all sang Happy Birthday! We each chose a shape and a side of the cake to enjoy. An appropriate way to deface a perfectly good birthday cake I think.

Do you remember your first Bike?

While driving in the car this week, Cassidy asked for help learning to ride her bike "on two wheels." (This means no training wheels). This led to a discussion Alisa and I had about when we first learned to ride a bike. I grew up on a steep incline street. Our driveway was steep and there really wasn't much place to "practice" riding a bike. As such, I didn't get my first bike until I was nearly 8. I remember my older brother had a black mountain bike, and one day I asked if I could ride it. I never had a bike with training wheels, or had someone stand behind me and stabilize the bike, I just jumped on and off I went-that was it. Granted I was nearly 8 years old at the time, but I still felt very accomplished. After I mastered the whole bike riding thing I went to my parents and asked for a bike. My parents delivered by purchasing from a neighbor an old, yellow, banana seat bicycle. The picture above is not my bike, but looks very similar. I had a small basket that I took off the front handle bars and mounted behind the seat. I loved that bike. It was old, the seat was torn, but I love it. I would often do my best to impress the young girls on our street by standing on the long seat and cruising down the steep street. In my head I remember thinking that I was something to behold. Wish I still had my banana seat bike. Not sure what happened to it, but together we had some good times. Do you remember your first bike?

Spook!

The Halloween weekend kicked off with a Halloween party at Cassidy's preschool. Cassidy chose to be a witch this year. Mckay was invited to join Cassidy's class at the conclusion of the party for a little trunk-or-treat with all the parents of the preschool students.

Cassidy and Mckay Trick-or-Treating
Cassidy again was a witch, but Mckay not wanting to be a one costume man, chose to be Captain Hook for the evening's festivities.
Mckay was quickly a fan of the idea of people giving him candy.
